Reaching Out to the Community
From 1990 to 2000 Jacquard Associates dedicated approximately 3% of its professional time for one pro bono case annually. In every case, our client had built a business into something of value but lacked access to sound management techniques, or had simply lost focus. We performed the same services for these clients as our customary work.
What did we learn from our pro bono experiences? Whether a client pays or not, they expect the same support and the same effort. Crisis and turnarounds require commitment and hard work. Perhaps, our most valuable learning experience is that there are no shortcuts.
Starting in 2001, Jacquard Associates began a corporate sponsorship program for education. We now request a nominal fee for our pro bono work. Our clients feel better about it and we have created a fund that uses those fees to maintain annual scholarships at inner-city private grade and high schools. In addition, we donate our fees from various small projects and advisory boards we serve on to this scholarship program.
- Four Fold Graduate School is a Jacquard-run Applied Masters Program giving minorities and veterans access to part-time real-world training.
- Board Support is provided gratis in many local schools and charity organizations
We have supported L.E.A.R.N. Charter School, Hales Franciscan High School and Chicago Providence-St. Mel College Preparatory School.
